Eileen O'Donnell "Owl"
granite
Location: Old Brick Sculpture Garden,Clinton Historical Society 103 East Main Street
Eileen O’Donnell has always had a love of sculpture. Starting out working with clay, she discovered that casting a clay piece into a finished bronze sculpture was an involved and expensive process. In a stone sculpture class at the Guilford Art Center, she found her preferred medium: stone. As she says, “When you are done sculpting in stone, you are finished.” O’Donnell is also an accomplished stained glass artist, noting that she works with both glass and the stone that can break it.
This sculpture came about when Eileen first saw flecks of black in the stone. She thought of feathers and could see the owl looking out at her.
